Homesick

When traveling, studying or working, there will always be homesickness, leave the bed you are most familiar with, leave your favorite family and friends, and when you stay away from everything you are familiar with, you will still find that the home is the warmest . I remember the first time i came to Seattle study, i cry every night because really miss home, but after few days used different things to make me not homesick again.

  1. Give yourself only 24 hours to miss homesickness!

Homesick is sometimes just like as breaking up. You will first experience a period of pain. After eating ice cream, you will have to Keep going! Just look forward to the day of home. We usually celebrate the festival for no more than 24 hours a day, just give ourselves 24 hours to relax, look at photos at home, call family and friends, eat at home alone.and so on. After the time has passed, you have to tell yourself that it is time to move forward. Take the initiative to find classmates or friends you know in a different place to go out and play together. Let yourself find in some group activities to temporarily forget loneliness. Is look like me too when i go to school at Pierce College i find a lot of friends they also came from Hong Kong too. When I play with them unknowingly forget the homesick.

2 Make a shedule

There is always a lack of home-like warmth in the new environment, so you can make you only daily life schedule based on your usual family habits! Are you used to working out in the gym on the weekends and enjoying coffee and shopping after work? When i was free i will go to gym 2 days for week and go to star buck and drink my favorite green tea frappuccino, basically i don’t have these habits in Hong Kong maybe with the local culture. Add these to your schedule, or schedule some activities you like to make life full of expectations, your new home is like your original home.

3. Find a familiar space

Before you like a new environment, you need to start getting familiar with that place. Familiar things can make you feel at home, take a walk in the park at a fixed time, meet friends who like to walk, like you, for me may familiar place is steilacoom park because my host family is live in there, so after school always go to there to realx.

4 Never make yourself bored

Boring is the best for the homesickness. The more time homesick, the more you want to go home. Keep yourself energetic and busy from time to time. Fitness, volunteering, attending classes, and signing up for after-school activities are all ways to distract yourself from boredom or homesickness. Don’t let yourself stay home too often. For me when i feel boring i will read some book or go to outside with my friends.

5 Take more photo

Taking a lot of photos is the best way to explore your new home. The more familiar you are with your surroundings, the more you will feel. In addition, watching the photos you took before can help you appreciate the new environment and remind you of your motivation for going outside and you can post on face book let you parents see too.
